     Things are a-Buzzin’

In Third Grade!

We are continuing

To learn and grow

In room 103!

Spring has Sprung!

For Parents

We sure are busy bees in room 103! Here are some things we are

Working on:

Religion—We are learning about the commandments and about Jesus’

Command for us to love one another. We are finishing our Gold Books,

And beginning practice to prepare for First Holy Communion! We

can’t wait for May 1st!

Math—We are back to learning about multiplication, multiplying with

9, 10, and with 3 one-digit numbers. We will soon begin learning

about measurement—length, weight, and capacity. Try asking your

student to notice the volume on the packages of foods in your

pantry or fridge!

Reading– We have begun our new readers! The current theme is about

Folktales and tall tales.  We are learning how to summarize, compare and contrast, and recognize figurative language.

ILA—We will be learning to recognize adjectives.  Ask us to use an

Adjective to describe something we tell you! We love to write—ask

to see our Writer’s Workshop Copybook!

Social Studies—We are learning about local and national government,

And will soon be doing a project on a famous American. Stay tuned

for more details!.

Science—LabLearner!  The excitement continues in the lab! We are

Exploring Electricity!  We have a special guest (Mr. Tulskie—our own

Science Guy!) coming to do a really neat project—ask us about what

he did!!

Text Box: The third grade had a special visitor to our science lab— our favorite science dad,
Mr. Tulskie! He showed us how to create a battery from a lemon! It was a very
exciting lab, and we are so grateful to him for all the work he put into this project.

The Third grade enjoyed a very special Communion Retreat day.  They began with a prayer and a movie, and then took turns at stations painting candles, pressing Communion hosts, shaping bread to be baked, and having a special snack.  We really feel ready for our First Holy Communion now!
